An official opening ceremony for Ukraine's Honorary Consulate was held in the Estonian city of Narva, with Allan Kaldoja appointed as Honorary Consul.
The Embassy of Ukraine in Estonia announced the opening on Facebook.
The ceremony was attended by Ukraine's Ambassador to Estonia, Volodymyr Boiechko; Narva Mayor Jaan Toots; Estonia's Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Martin Roger; representatives of local authorities and the Ukrainian community, including members of the Congress of Ukrainians of Estonia; volunteers; and Estonian supporters of Ukraine.
According to Volodymyr Boiechko, the opening of the Honorary Consulate will expand Ukraine's presence in eastern Estonia, help support Ukrainians living in the region and promote bilateral cooperation at the local level.

During the ceremony, the ambassador recalled the Russian ballistic missile strike on Kyiv on October 14, which also targeted energy infrastructure. He emphasised the connection between Ukraine's freedom and Estonia's security, as well as the importance of continued solidarity in resisting Russian aggression.
Boiechko also highlighted the Honorary Consul's contribution to supporting Ukraine. Before his appointment, Kaldoja had assisted Ukrainians arriving in Narva, provided premises for volunteers producing camouflage nets for Ukrainian defenders and personally delivered equipment to Ukrainian military personnel.
The Honorary Consulate will focus on supporting Ukrainians in the region, developing cultural, educational and economic cooperation, and strengthening ties between Ukrainian and Estonian communities.
