The Council of the Fund of the President of Ukraine for the Support of Education, Science, and Sports has approved the launch of a new programme that will enable the engagement of prominent public figures and professors from leading foreign universities in teaching students in Ukraine.
Although foreign professors have previously given lectures in Ukraine, this programme will significantly expand the geographic scope of cooperation and foster interaction not only with private but also with public higher education institutions. These institutions will now be able to invite lecturers from the world’s top 250 universities, including MIT, Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard, and Columbia University.
Foreign professors will not only deliver lectures online but also teach students in person in Ukraine for a period of three to nine months.
“Bringing foreign professors into Ukrainian higher education institutions will help improve the quality of education and ultimately encourage more students who left the country due to the war to return to Ukraine,” emphasized Olena Kovalska, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
Cooperation with foreign universities will also contribute to raising the rankings of Ukrainian higher education institutions in global ratings.
“This is not just about knowledge exchange – it’s about trust in the potential of our education system and creating real opportunities within the country, even during wartime. The global competition for talent is happening not only within Ukraine but across the world. It is important for Ukraine to hold strong positions in the global academic dialogue,” stated Olha Budnyk, Advisor – Commissioner of the President of Ukraine on the Fund of the President of Ukraine for the Support of Education, Science, and Sports.
The selection of professors will take place online via an electronic system. Candidate applications will be evaluated by experts, and a ranking will be formed based on clearly defined criteria.
The call for applications will be announced after the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approves the relevant resolution.
