Starting from July 1, 2025, an updated voltage standard of 230/400 V instead of the current 220/380 V comes into force in Ukraine’s electrical networks. This is stipulated by the resolution of the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities (NEURC).
The key innovation is the establishment of clear limits for permissible voltage deviation: from 207 to 253 V, i.e., ±10% from the nominal value of 230 V. Previously, the range was less defined, which complicated the detection of violations and protection of consumer rights.
“It is expected that these changes will positively affect the quality of electricity supply,” the NEURC states. More stable voltage means a lower risk for household appliances, which often broke down due to overvoltage or undervoltage.
The need to use stabilizers and protective devices will decrease.
Energy efficiency will increase – appliances will operate in an optimal mode, without overloads and excessive consumption.
Most modern appliances, especially imported ones, have long been designed for the 230 V standard. Transitioning to the European standard in Ukraine will help avoid compatibility conflicts and improve the reliability of electricity supply.
