Serhiy Makogon, Director of the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine, announced this on his Facebook page.

He said that the GIPL (Gas Interconnection Poland - Lithuania) gas pipeline connecting Poland and Lithuania has been launched today.

"This is a significant breakthrough in the energy security of the entire region. It will be much more difficult for Gazprom to blackmail these countries with gas," Makogon said.

According to him, Ukraine will be able to access LNG terminals in Klaipeda in the summer of 2022.

"In the coming days, a tanker with a cargo of liquefied LNG for Poland will arrive at the LNG terminal in Klaipeda. And after the completion of the Poland-Slovakia interconnector this summer, Ukraine will also receive LNG terminals in Poland and the Baltic countries," he said.
