Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal held a meeting in Kyiv with the U.S. President’s Special Representative, General Keith Kellogg.

The Defense Minister thanked General Kellogg for his visit during a critical time for Ukraine and highlighted the exceptionally strong U.S. support that helps save lives and advance a just peace.

“Ukraine highly values the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative. It has opened new opportunities for NATO countries to rapidly provide our Armed Forces with critically needed U.S. weaponry and technologies,” he emphasized.

During the meeting, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Andriy Hnatov, and Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, provided the U.S. delegation with a detailed analysis of Russian plans and the frontline situation.

“Together with our partners, we must increase pressure on the aggressor to force it toward a fair, lasting, and sustainable peace,” added the Defense Minister.

He informed the delegation about Ukraine’s defense priorities, emphasizing the critical need to scale up the production of ammunition and drones to halt the Russia’s offensive. Joint projects in this area enable more effective provision of weapons to Ukrainian troops.

The parties also discussed the creation of reliable security guarantees to prevent future aggression against Ukraine, with work on such guarantees proceeding in close cooperation with partners.

“We also discussed preparations for the signing of an agreement between the Presidents of Ukraine and the U.S. regarding the production and sale of drones (Drone deal). The relevant documents were provided to the U.S. side during the meeting,” stated Denys Shmyhal.
