In the village of Molodizhne in the Odessa region, a national record has been set — the first labyrinth in Ukraine made entirely from rapa whelk shells.

This was reported by Lana Vetrova, head of the National Register of Records.

“The longest labyrinth made of rapa whelk shells is located in the New Vasyuki family recreation park in Molodizhne, Odessa region,” Vetrova said.

She noted that the total length of all the labyrinth’s partitions is almost half a kilometer — 486 linear meters, with walls 25 cm thick and a total area of 911.3 sq. m. To create this unique location, over 134 tons of shells were used.

The shells were collected from all seashores where storms had washed them ashore. They were then cleaned, dried, and weathered under the sun.

“This process took years and required immense patience. But the owner of the eco-park, Vasyl Voloshynov, was confident in the result. And the result became Ukraine’s record: ‘The First Labyrinth Made of Rapa Whelk Shells,’” Vetrova reported.
