Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with G7 ambassadors.

The Minister thanked the G7 for their consistent and vital support from the very first days of Russian aggression.

Denys Shmyhal informed the ambassadors about Ukraine’s key needs ahead of winter:

  • Additional air defense systems and corresponding ammunition;
  • FPV drones for the frontlines and interceptors to counter Shahed drones.

The Minister also proposed considering the creation of new joint projects in the defense industry sector.

The participants discussed the ongoing reforms being systematically implemented by the Ministry of Defense.

“We are establishing relevant bodies within the ministry to coordinate reforms. We are emphasizing transparency: implementing digital solutions and modern corporate governance standards across all components of the system. Out of 90 state-owned enterprises previously under the Ministry of Defense, 14 have already been transferred to the State Property Fund, and 8 to JSC Ukroboronprom,” Shmyhal said.

He briefed partners on the advantages of the DOT-Chain Defence marketplace. On this platform, soldiers can directly order drones from manufacturers and receive them within days. The Ministry will continue adding new manufacturers and weapon types to the platform based on military requests, Shmyhal emphasized.

He added that European and Euro-Atlantic integration is a defining priority for Ukraine’s reforms. To this end, a dedicated NATO and EU unit has been created, and a new open format for interaction with partners has been introduced.

Shmyhal expressed gratitude to the United States for all the support provided to Ukraine and for initiating work on a peace plan. At the same time, he stressed that no peace plan can be developed without Ukraine and its European partners.
