On July 15, 2024, a volunteer hacker community, in collaboration with cyber specialists from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, attacked approximately 100 web resources within the territory of Russia.

As of July 16, 39 of the targeted Russian websites remain down. The cyberattack was aimed at destroying internal information of companies servicing clients from Russia's public sector involved in the war against Ukraine.

Specifically affected were:

  • "MITgroup" — a group of companies involved in corporate website development.
  • "Perm Plant of Industrial Equipment" — a manufacturer supplying lifting equipment for industrial facilities.
  • "United Crane Technologies" — a trading and manufacturing company producing and selling lifting equipment.
  • "RUMOS-LADA" — a LADA car dealership.

As a result of the cyberattack, the appearance of the aggressor's affected websites has been altered — instead of their usual content, visitors now see a pig's head and an error code "404".
