Employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine continue to assist Slovenia in dealing with the aftermath of the floods. Since the start of the operations, around 1,400 meters of riverbed have been cleared and expanded, over 18,500 cubic meters of soil, stones, and sediment have been removed. Additionally, 210 meters of dams have been constructed and over 900 meters of the riverbank have been reinforced.
Due to heavy rains, floods have affected the northern, northwestern, and parts of central Slovenia, resulting in casualties. Buildings and bridges have been destroyed, and the estimated damages amount to around 500 million euros. The country's authorities have referred to these floods as the worst natural disaster in the past 30 years.
The Slovenian government sought international assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and the Euro-Atlantic Coordination Center for Disaster Response and Crisis Management. As part of this assistance, Ukrainian rescuers were sent to the country to help mitigate the consequences of the floods.
