"Ukrgazvydobuvannya," a part of the "Naftogaz" Group, has commissioned two new high-yield wells. Both have been drilled at the same gas field: one was sidetracked, with the other put into operation after drilling.
This information was provided by the press service of the "Naftogaz" Group.
The first well was originally drilled back in 1975, but eventually became idle due to technical difficulties. Recently, Ukrgasvydobuvannya specialists analysed the well and identified opportunities for recovery.
In order to ro restore this well with a high flow rate, we decided to drill a sidetrack and further perform several stages of hydraulic fracturing. This approach proved successful, providing more than 100 tcm in additional natural gas for the country," stated Oleh Tolmachev, Acting Director General of Ukrgasvydobuvannya.
The second appraisal well also produces more than 100 tcm of gas. This was achieved due to the successful selection of the drilling site by the development team and four stages of hydraulic fracturing.
Both wells were drilled by Ukrurgaz Branch.
The field has been subject to active drilling since 2021. Over the past year and a half, despite martial law and related difficulties, 15 new production wells have been added to the existing well stock. Several more are currently undergoing drilling and testing. This year, the gas field will return to annual production of more than 1 bcm for the first time in more than 10 years.
