All hydroelectric power plants in Ukraine have been hit by enemy strikes, with Ukrainian hydroelectric stations losing about 40% of their generation capacity.
This was reported by the General Director of Ukrhydroenergo, Ihor Syrota, during a broadcast on the national telethon.
"As of today, unfortunately, there isn't a single station that hasn't been attacked by the Russian aggressor. More than 130 missile strikes have been carried out against our generation facilities. We understand that we are losing and have lost a significant amount," he said.
According to him, the Kakhovka HPP was completely lost, and the DniproHPP sustained significant damage. All other hydroelectric stations are in the process of recovery.
"What can be restored, we still don't know. The goal is to recover as much as possible by the autumn-winter period, but today this is a difficult task because, almost every week or month, there are constant missile strikes. We plan one thing, but the enemy plans another. Therefore, predicting anything today is very difficult," Syrota added.
He noted that Ukrainian hydroelectric plants have lost about 40% of their generation capacity, while thermal power plants have lost over 80%. These generation sources are crucial for balancing the Ukrainian energy system, leading to a deficit in balancing generation.
