"Maritime Drones - Unique Development of the SSU," - Vasil Maliuk reveals details of the high-profile special operations of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Maritime surface drones that successfully attacked the Crimean Bridge, as well as the Russian landing ship "Olenegorsk Miner" and the tanker "SIG," are the proprietary technical creation of the SSU. This was announced by the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Maliuk, in an exclusive comment to CNN.
"Maritime surface drones are a unique development of the SSU. No private companies are involved in this development. These drones attacked the Crimean Bridge in July 2023, and specific drones targeted the 'Olenegorsk Miner' and the oil tanker 'SIG'," said Vasil Maliuk, the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine.
He added that the development and production of these drones are carried out by a team of the SSU, assisted by civilian engineers and IT specialists.
"The production of our drones takes place in one of the underground facilities on Ukrainian territory. Today, we are engaged in many different interesting operations, particularly in the Black Sea waters. I promise you, it will be a surprise, especially for our enemies," emphasized Vasyl Maliuk.
Providing more detailed information about the special operations, the Head of the SSU noted that it was the Security Service that conceived the corresponding operational ideas and successfully implemented them in collaboration with the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "We approach each maritime special operation carefully. Essentially, we measure seven times and cut once. But we do it quickly and flexibly. We strike the enemy right in the heart," emphasized the leader of the Security Service.
The Head of the SSU added that the maritime drones that damaged the Crimean Bridge in July 2023 were named "SeaBaby" at the initiative of the personnel. They are equipped with a warhead weighing 850 kg.
To target the landing ship "Olenegorsk Miner" and the tanker "SIG," two separate maritime surface drones were used, each carrying a warhead weighing 450 kilograms.
Vasyl Maliuk emphasized that all targets affected by the special service are fully legal according to Ukrainian legislation and norms of international law. He also noted that Western partners are not involved in conducting these special operations, but they actively adopt the unique experience of the SSU.
