Ukraine will expand the negotiation team responsible for preparing prisoner exchanges. Specifically, six more entities will join the group.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU).
Maliuk stated that Ukraine is expanding the negotiation team, which, on behalf of the Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, has been involved in preparing exchanges. From now on, representatives from the SSU, the Main Intelligence Directorate, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVS), the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Foreign Intelligence Service, and the Ombudsman will also be included.
"I am confident that this approach will allow us to combine our efforts and more effectively fight for the return of every defender of Ukraine, to bring them home. It is precisely this synergy and the combination of our efforts that will yield results as quickly as possible," said the head of the SSU.
He noted that this applies not only to organizing exchanges of military personnel but also to civilians, including those whom Russia has been illegally detaining since 2014.
"The return of Ukrainian defenders is a top-priority task assigned by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Volodymyr Zelensky. This is a significant part of our mission. Moreover, SSU operatives are working successfully to maximize the replenishment of our exchange fund," Maliuk emphasized.
