Victor Yahun: Russian strikes on water supply and heat supply facilities, bridges, railway are still ahead

Viktor Yahun believes that by such actions (shelling of critical infrastructure facilities), the Kremlin wants to force the civilian population of Ukraine to come out with a demand from the authorities for peace negotiations with the Russian Federation.

In an interview to Unian, a military expert spoke about the risk of shelling and the problems in the West and North of Ukraine.

"They started a flash mob using bots and dummy figures, where they write: "Zelensky, stop it." I looked at the whole thing. It seems very funny because they use Google Translate. In general, I am surprised that in Russia, they cannot find a Ukrainian language translator who can generally type the text without stupid mistakes. Either they save the budget, or they need to be up to it, or they believe that they are the smartest. The population of Ukraine does not very support Flash mob. The position of those analysts who cannot say that the expected effect will not be incomprehensible is incomprehensible. I think they can continue this tactic because they simply have no other choice. On the battlefield, they cannot show any success. This is the only way to contain these ultra-patriots of Russia and their pseudo-patriotic fire that is going on in the press.

These strikes are the only opportunity to show at least some kind of victory. The worst thing is that everyone likes it and reacts very well to it. If the Russian Federation receives the second batch of weapons from Iran, they will continue this tactic. Experts say it may end somewhere between the 15th and 17th before the G20 summit. During this period, the shelling can be stopped."

The expert is sure there is a risk that Russia will start hitting water supply and heat supply facilities, bridges, and railways to aggravate the Ukraine crisis.

"They will, so you need to prepare for the worst. The only way to protect yourself is to strengthen air defenses. We have a huge problem with the West and the North. But we must understand that the situation is still improving. Literally, in the next few days, we will receive the next air defense systems. These are very powerful systems that protect the White House. I hope that the General Staff will orient themselves and put them in the right place. If you look at IRIS-T, which was involved in the southern direction and actually works with 100% hit on the point, they really blocked this direction for drones, and missiles.

The situation is complicated because our defense was focused on aircraft and cruise missiles, but with ballistic missiles, everything is much more complicated. These rockets rise, then fly at great speed to the place of their impact. How is it different from "Point U" or "Iskanders"? Iranian ballistic missiles are separated. That is, just before the hit, one of the stages is separated and only the warhead flies. We are aware of this issue and are actively working to resolve it.

Before receiving drones from Iran, no one believed that they were effective. No one expected that it was just a flying "moped" that flies at low speed for a short distance. Raising a jet plane is not very effective, and the use of rockets is too. It turned out that standard anti-aircraft installations of the 60s were more effective than anything else. We learned how to shoot them down, which showed our ability to work with new challenges. Therefore, we will solve this problem."
