The Russian attack on Ukraine on Monday, August 26, was the largest to date. Russia launched over a hundred missiles of various types and around a hundred Shahed drones.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"Currently, efforts are underway across the country to address the consequences of the Russian strike.

This was one of the largest attacks—a combined one. Over a hundred missiles of various types and around a hundred Shahed drones. And, like most previous Russian attacks, this one was just as vile, targeting critical civilian infrastructure. It hit most of our regions—from Kharkiv and Kyiv to Odessa and our western provinces.

Unfortunately, there are casualties. My condolences to all the families and loved ones. There are dozens of injured—everyone is receiving the necessary assistance.

Many damages have occurred in the energy sector. However, restoration work is already underway everywhere where power outages have occurred. Our repair teams will work around the clock. We will restore the electricity. In all cities and communities that need it, resilience centers should now be opened.

It is also very important that our partners fulfill the agreements we made with them. Air defense systems, missiles for them. We also need to finally achieve joint interception of Russian missiles and drones. Today, there were targets in Volyn, Lviv region, and Ivano-Frankivsk. Vinnytsia region, Khmelnytskyi, and our Ternopil region. In various regions of Ukraine, we could do much more to protect lives if the aviation of our European neighbors worked alongside our F-16s and our air defense systems. If such unity worked effectively in the Middle East, it should work in Europe as well. Every life is equally valuable.

And one more thing.

Putin remains true to himself—it's clear to everyone by now that he is a sick individual. But it is also clear that he can only do what the world allows him to do. Weakness and insufficient responses fuel terror. Every leader, every partner knows what strong measures are needed to end this war—and end it justly. There cannot be limitations on the range of weapons in Ukraine when the terrorists face no such limitations. Defenders of life should not face restrictions on weapons while Russia uses all types of its own weapons, including Shahed drones and ballistic missiles from North Korea. America, Britain, France, and other partners have the strength to help us stop the terror. Strong decisions are needed."
