On the morning of November 11, Russian forces shelled Kurakhove in the Donetsk region, destroying the Ternivska Dam at the Kurakhiv Reservoir.

According to sources from Donbas News, the water level in the Vovcha River has already risen by one meter. Villages along the river’s flow are experiencing water level increases.
“We know that water is flowing through the villages near the Ternivska Dam. We cannot confirm the nature or critical level of the damage. We cannot inspect the dam due to ongoing shelling at this time,” Roman Padun, head of the Kurakhove Military-Civil Administration, told Suspilne.
According to Padun, there are reports that water is approaching settlements within the Velyka Novosilka community.
“We have received information from other settlements in the Velyka Novosilka community that water is flowing as if the sluice gates are open. This indicates that the dam is likely damaged,” Padun added.
It is noted that inspecting the impact site is complicated due to active fighting in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions.
Depending on the extent of the dam’s damage, there is a risk of partial flooding in communities downstream along the Vovcha River, including the villages of Stari Terny, Ulakli, Konstyntynopol, Andriivka, Oleksiivka, Bohatyr, Zelenyi Kut, Novoukrainka, and several settlements in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
