Kurakhove in Donetsk region remains under the control of Ukrainian forces. However, Russian forces are attempting to take control of the logistical routes leading to the city.
This was reported by Nazar Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Khortytsia operational-strategic group, during a live broadcast on the national telethon.
According to him, 40 assaults occurred in the Kurakhove direction over the past day, with the enemy attempting to breach Ukrainian defensive positions.
"For the enemy, it is important on this front to stabilize their defensive line, as this will allow them to regroup—replenishing certain units and preparing them for further offensives in this sector of the front, as well as in the Pokrovsk direction," Voloshyn explained.
He also noted that Russians are focusing on controlling logistical routes leading to Kurakhove in order to break through the city's defense.
"The Russian army is intensively shelling the city of Kurakhove, using both GABs and artillery. Defense forces are resisting the enemy and inflicting losses. The city remains under the control of the Defense Forces, and sabotage and reconnaissance groups that attempt to breach defenses are quickly neutralized," Voloshyn added.
