For the first time, a demonstration of Ukrainian films will be held in the Republic of Korea. Ukrainian films will be screened in Seoul on November 15-20, 2022 as part of the CinemAid Ukraine Charity Film Marathon.

The programme includes films created with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency:

  • "Toloka" by Mykhailo Ilyenko is a version of Ukraine's history based on the well-known lyrical poem.
  • "Schedryk" by Olesya Morgunets-Isayenko, is an emotional story of loss, friendship, and family love.
  • "DZIDZIO Contrabass" by Oleg Borshchevsky is a light comedy about three men trying to make money by smuggling and constantly getting into trouble.
  • "11 children from Morshyn" by Arkady Nepytalyuk is the adventure of children united in the fight against criminals.

The president of the Korean company TRA Media Ji-Man Choi said: "TRA Media is honored to be the co-organizer of the first Ukrainian film festival in Korea; it gives us a special feeling because for the first time we introduced Ukrainian dramas to Korean viewers through our TVA Plus channel. I hope Korean audiences will learn about Ukrainian history and culture by watching Ukrainian films, as foreigners have come to know and love Korea by watching Korean films and dramas. I also hope this event will contribute to the activation of cultural exchange and strengthening relations between our two countries."

The head of State Cinema, Maryna Kuderchuk, emphasized: "It is important for us to represent the film industry of Ukraine in the international space. We are glad that screenings of Ukrainian films will take place in Seoul within the framework of the "CinemAidUkraine" charity film marathon. Unfortunately, a large part of Ukrainian filmmakers cannot present their films in person at such events because they go to the front to defend Ukraine or are engaged in volunteering. But we are a very developed and peace-loving nation, so after our victory, domestic cinematographers will once again return to their favorite business.

The event's grand opening will take place on November 15, 2022 at the Korean Film Archive.

CinemAid Ukraine Charity Film Marathon is a series of screenings of Ukrainian films abroad in support of Ukraine. The State Film Agency of Ukraine initiated the charity film marathon with the Ukrainian Film Academy, the "Watch Ukrainian!" Association, the Ukrainian Film Association, the NGO "UkrKinoFest", the NGO "Union of TV and Film Industry Entrepreneurs", the NGO "Nareshti", KP "Kyivkinofilm", BO BF "Doors", NGO "Centre for the Development of Creative Industries".

Screenings in Korea were organized by "Dveri" BF and the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Korea in cooperation with the Korean companies TRA Media and Vainer.
