The National Sanctuary "Sophia of Kyiv" has become a full member of the Europa Nostra organization, which is a voice of civil society caring for cultural and natural heritage in Europe. The organization comprises hundreds of member and associate organizations and dedicated individuals from across Europe and beyond.
This event holds special and symbolic significance as the organization celebrates its 60th anniversary, and the year 2023 was marked by consolidation and further expansion of the organization's activities for the benefit of Europe's shared heritage.
The destructive consequences of Russia's aggressive war in Ukraine, particularly concerning cultural heritage, continue to demand adequate efforts during the country's recovery phase.
Currently, the organization has raised over 150,000 euros to support cultural heritage defenders in Ukraine through a solidarity campaign.
Furthermore, in May, Europa Nostra, along with a strong team of European partners and member organizations, launched the European Heritage Hub project.
The aim of this pilot project, funded by the EU, is to:
• Mobilize stakeholders at all levels of governance to support climate actions related to heritage and culture.
• Engage and reach audiences who typically do not participate in cultural heritage-related activities, with a particular emphasis on youth.
• Fully leverage the opportunities offered by digital transformation to make content, policies, initiatives, projects, and news in the field of cultural heritage easily accessible to all.
