The sown area under soybeans in 2022 will increase to 1.6-1.7 million hectares, while in 2021 the area under cultivation reached 1.3 million hectares.

This forecast was reported by the representative of Rizobacter Artem Nadolsky at the conference "Soy jackpot as a long game", which was held inside the Agro Animal Show 2022.

According to him, this trend will be observed given the price of products and the high cost of fertilizers, because soybeans need less nitrogen fertilizers than other crops.

At the same time, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka stressed that the Ukrainian soybean market is not fully aware of which customer to focus on: consumers of GM soybeans or not GM soybeans. He also noted that Ukraine should be the EU's partner in the Green Course, not a competitor.

Today, most of the technologies introduced by Ukrainian farmers are climate-friendly. And Ukraine should have access to pesticides that are allowed in the EU, and not be a market for agrochemicals that are not allowed in the EU.

Suzanne Fromwald, executive director of the Danube Soybean Association, said that growing soybeans in Ukraine is in line with the goals of the European Green Course strategy. After all, soy needs less pesticide use. Also, according to the expert, soybeans can increase organic production.

Given that Ukraine is the first supplier of soybeans to the EU, the country is also joining the integration of green goals by increasing the share of soybeans in crop rotation, reducing pesticide use, increasing organic production of this crop.

Recall that the prices on the Chicago Board of Soybeans and corn fell due to the resumption of precipitation in some parts of South America, which could hamper the harvest in Argentina and southern Brazil.
