Up to 250 foreign-made electronic components can be found in a single Russian Kh-101 missile, and up to 400 in a drone.

This was stated by Serhiy Naumiuk, deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), at the conference on expanding sanctions against Russia, "Fair play: honest game."

“The percentage of Western components in missiles and drones is significant. However, their number can vary greatly depending on the type and series. For example, the SBU found that a single Russian Kh-101 missile can contain up to 250 Western-made electronic components. At the same time, in the same type of missile that the Russian forces used to strike Okhmatdyt on July 8, 2024, we identified 59 such parts. These include processors, matrices, transceivers, integrated circuits,” said Naumiuk.

He also noted that drones like the Shahed or Geran, depending on the production series, can have up to 400 electronic components made in Western countries.

“Specifically, these are parts from companies in Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, Brazil, Spain, Italy, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Germany, Portugal, Serbia, the USA, Finland, France, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, and others. These products reach the Russian forces not directly, but through a chain of intermediaries. China, India, the United Arab Emirates, and some former CIS countries, primarily Kazakhstan and Armenia, help Russia bypass sanctions,” Naumiuk explained.

He added that the SSU is also documenting the activities of foreign companies supplying Russia with equipment and machinery for producing military hardware and ammunition, as well as investigating every shelling.

“We collect evidence and take measures to hold those responsible for these crimes accountable. Currently, SSU investigators are probing over 120,000 criminal cases related to shelling of Ukraine’s civilian and critical infrastructure. More than 4,000 cases specifically concern missile strikes. Investigators and experts examine fragments in each case and identify component manufacturers,” said Naumiuk.
