The Swedish government on Thursday, September 11, presented its twentieth aid package for Ukraine worth $836 million. This was announced by Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson on X.
“Today Sweden presented UA support package 20, worth $836 million. It contains among other things, 18 new Archer systems, an extension of Sweden's long-term military aid to Ukraine with $3.6 billion yearly 2026-2027, and $900 million in yearly civil funding 2026-2028,” said the minister.
According to Jonson, Sweden will purchase new Archer artillery systems and 155-millimeter shells worth $327 million.
“We will procure 18 new Archer systems & more 155mm ammunition worth $327 million. This brings Ukraine´s total Archer inventory up to 44 systems. When I visited the UA company using Archer last month, they confirmed the effectiveness against Russian targets and attacks,” the minister added.
The official also said that in the maritime sector, Sweden will purchase equipment worth $190 million, including mobile coastal radar systems, new auxiliary naval vessels with grenade launchers, and unmanned systems.
“The 32 donated Combat boat 90 will get additional sensors, weapons systems and radars,” he added.
Jonson noted that the Swedish Armed Forces will also provide Ukraine with equipment worth $12.7 million, including 500 motorcycles and support equipment for airbases, such as trucks and tractors.
According to Jonson, the transferred Tridon Mk 2 air defense systems will receive radar sensors and control systems.
“Additionally, more programmable 40mm anti-aircraft ammunition is being provided. Financial donations to a sum of $68 million to different capability coalitions is also included,” he added.
The minister noted that the package includes additional classified systems and projects, but “their deployment will have to be left for the battlefield.”
“The Russian army can expect Swedish-Ukrainian surprises going forward. Sweden will continue to put hard pressure on Russia until they stop this war,” Jonson stated.
