The Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine, Pier Francesco Zazo, stated that he sees specific opportunities for the development of bilateral economic relations between the countries in many sectors, including agribusiness, renewable energy, transportation, and logistics.
"On a general level, I see specific opportunities for the development of bilateral economic relations in many sectors: agribusiness, renewable energy, infrastructure, transportation, and logistics, machinery for the defense industry, space, and consumer goods Made in Italy," the ambassador said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
According to him, Italy is interested in developing relations with the Ukrainian railway and ports and would like to strengthen cooperation in the field of transportation and logistics.
"For example, we are collaborating with private funds, and with the participation of the Italian government, we are working on the development of a logistics hub in Horondi, on the border with Hungary. We would like to strengthen Pan-European Corridor No. 5, which connects northern Italy with Budapest and Kyiv, as we believe it is the future. This is very important, especially considering Ukraine's gradual integration into the European Union," Zazo noted.
He also mentioned that the Italian export credit agency, Servizi Assicurativi del Commercio Estero (SACE), will allocate EUR 1.5 billion to support commercial and financial operations, particularly in the healthcare and infrastructure sectors.
Furthermore, work is currently underway on an agreement between the health ministries of Italy and Ukraine to strengthen bilateral cooperation, the diplomat added.
