Ukraine has brought back the bodies of 757 fallen soldiers to its territory. These defenders fought in battles across the Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
According to the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the returned bodies include:
- 451 defenders from the Donetsk front,
- 71 from the Bakhmut direction,
- 51 from the Vuhledar direction,
- 13 from the Luhansk front,
- 137 from the Zaporizhzhia front.
Additionally, 34 bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers were repatriated from morgues in Russia.
This effort was made possible through the coordinated work of the Coordination Headquarters, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Ombudsman, the Secretariat for Missing Persons, the State Emergency Service, and other agencies. The International Committee of the Red Cross also played a role in facilitating the return.
The bodies will be handed over to law enforcement and forensic experts for identification procedures.
