The Council of the European Union applied restrictive measures against the Russian Wagner PMC.

This is stated in the official journal of the EU.

As stated in the rationale, the European Council confirms its strong condemnation of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, which clearly violates the Charter of the United Nations. The European Council also approved that the EU remains committed to maintaining and increasing collective pressure on Russia, in particular through possible further restrictive measures.

The Council of the EU believes that the two organizations are responsible for actions that undermine or threaten Ukraine's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence.

The "Wagner group" associated with Dmytro Utkin and Yevhen Prigozhin is included in the sanctions list.

In addition, the St. Petersburg news agency RIA Fan, also associated with Yevgeny Prigozhin, has also been restricted.
