Russian forces have initiated a third wave of attacks on the Avdiivka axis. Consequently, occupant losses sharply increased.
This was reported by the spokesperson of the Unified Press Center of the Defense Forces of the Tavriya direction, Oleksandr Shtupun, during a telethon.
"Yesterday, Russians started the third wave of active actions as part of the offensive on the Avdiivka axis. Accordingly, their losses sharply increased. The Russians deployed a significant amount of armored vehicles," Shtupun stated.
According to him, Ukrainian soldiers completely destroyed three tanks and seven other armored vehicles in the past 24 hours, and this is only on the Avdiivka direction.
The spokesperson also clarified the information about 80% of destroyed Russian equipment in the Avdiivka area, reported yesterday.
"It was one specific attack, and there were two columns in it. Approximately 15 units of equipment. And 80% of it was destroyed," explained Shtupun.
It is worth noting that in early October, the occupiers intensified their offensive in the Avdiivka area. It became the most extensive since 2014. It is known that Russian occupiers have achieved certain successes. Their main goal is to encircle and then capture the 'gateway to Donetsk.'
According to the Chief Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny, in the month when the occupiers intensified near Avdiivka, Russia lost about 10,000 soldiers in this direction.
President Volodymyr Zelensky describes the losses of the Russian Federation in the Avdiivka area as more significant than those near Bahmut.
As military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko noted, Russian occupiers near Avdiivka may be focusing on a new tactic, driven by the significant losses suffered by the enemy in this direction.
