The Ministry of Defense is initiating the creation of an innovative hub that will unite the efforts of all interested parties in implementing advanced demining technologies for the de-occupied territories of Ukraine. This was shared by the Deputy Head of the Main Directorate for Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety, Oleg Shuvarsky, during the session on "Mine Action in Ukraine."
"One of the tasks of this hub will be to assess modern technologies, compare global innovations, classify potential solutions according to international and national mine action standards, and test new developments. This will allow the creation of a 'technology bank in mine action' and prioritize their implementation and scaling in the country," emphasized Oleg Shuvarsky.
He also reminded that the Ministry of Defense is working on the possibility of creating a modern testing range to test innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence, in the demining processes.
The session was organized by the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining. In addition to representatives from Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, the event was attended by diplomats, UN and OSCE officials, the Secretariat of the National Mine Action Authority, as well as international experts, experienced professionals in the field of mine action, and developers of innovative technologies.
