Ukrainian law enforcement has initiated an investigation into the shooting of two Ukrainian servicemen by Russian occupiers in the Donetsk region. The Prosecutor General's Office reported this on Telegram.

The tragedy occurred in the vicinity of the village of Stepove in Pokrovsk district, Donetsk region. Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, an investigation has been launched for the violation of laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

It is emphasized that the killing of prisoners of war constitutes a grave violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a serious international crime.

Yesterday, on December 2, a video emerged online showing two Ukrainian military personnel surrendering. A group of Russians shot the unarmed servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This occurred in the Avdiivka direction.

Human Rights Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets stated that the incident constitutes a violation of international law and an act of terrorism. He announced his intention to appeal to the Red Cross and the UN.

Later, the Strategic Communications Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that Russian terrorists shot two unarmed Ukrainian defenders. The Armed Forces of Ukraine called on the international community to react and hold the military leadership of Russia accountable.
