The Russian nuclear-powered icebreaker 50 Years of Victory suffered a major collision in the Kara Sea, losing a sizable chunk of its bow.
As noted by OSINTtechnical, this is a major blow to Russian shipping (and consequently, to the economy) in the Arctic Ocean.
The Russians had a total of 8 nuclear icebreakers, and the reactor hatches for the one being built to replace them recently sank along with the Ursa Major vessel in the Mediterranean Sea. The Ursa was carrying two Liebherr 420 mobile cranes for the harbor in Vladivostok that is heavily backed up due to a lack of cranes and two 45-ton hatches for the construction of the new Project 10510 nuclear powered icebreaker.
