The Russians completely disconnected ZNPP from the power grid. The security system has been triggered
Disconnection by the Russians of the overhead line of communication with the Ukrainian energy system led to changes in the operation of the Zaporizhzhya NPP – the actions of the invaders led to the complete disconnection of the Zaporizhzhia NPP from the energy network.
Energoatom writes about it.
“Today, August 25, 2022, due to fires at the ash dumps of the Zaporizhzhia TPP, located near the Zaporizhzhya NPP, the last (fourth) communication line of ZNPP with the energy system of Ukraine-PL – 750 kV ZNPP – Dniprovska was disconnected twice. Three other communication lines were previously damaged during Russian shelling. As a result, two operating power units of the station were disconnected from the network. Thus, the actions of the invaders led to the complete disconnection of the Zaporizhzhya NPP from the power grid – the first in the history of the station,” the report says.
The NPP’s own needs for power supply are now provided by the energy system of Ukraine through the ZNPP communication line.
The department added that there are no comments on the operation of automation and security systems yet. Start-up operations are underway to connect one of the power units to the grid.
It is worth noting that earlier local media reported about a probable accident at the sixth block of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Later it became known that there were no comments on automation and the security system operation.
The radiation background in Energodar is 10.4 micro-roentgen per hour, which corresponds to the natural one.
On August 22, the Russian invaders fired at the Zaporizhzhya NPP located in the occupied Energodar. Subsequently, it became known about the death of a man as a result of shelling in the area of the Zaporizhzhya NPP.
Recall that the Russian invaders occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region. In particular, the city of Energodar, where the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, is located. They repeatedly shelled the station’s territory and damaged several objects.
The European Union and more than 40 countries of the world called on Russia to immediately withdraw its troops and personnel from the ZNPP.
