The Security Service continues to strengthen measures to protect the defense potential of Ukraine. As a result of a special operation in Zaporizhzhia, an attempt to illegally transfer the latest military technologies subject to state export control to one of the East Asian countries was blocked.

For a monetary reward, the attackers tried to smuggle to foreigners secret documentation related to the production of aircraft engines for fighter jets and combat helicopters.

According to SBU counterintelligence, the scheme was organized by a former official of one of the most powerful defense enterprises in the region. He involved three current employees in illegal activities.

It was they who secretly copied secret information from work computers and samples of technical documentation.

An organizer planned to transfer the received information to foreign representatives through closed electronic communication channels for money.

According to the preliminary conclusions of specialists in the defense-industrial complex of Ukraine, in case of obtaining the appropriate technologies, foreigners could establish their own production of modernized aircraft engines.

During searches of the offices and residences of the perpetrators, law enforcement officers discovered:

• digital data carriers with technical documentation for military purposes;
• means of communication used to communicate with the foreign "customer";
• 30 thousand dollars, which they received as a deposit for illegal export.

Currently, the issue of notifying perpetrators of suspicion under Art. 333 (violation of the procedure for carrying out international transfers of goods subject to state export control) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention.

Measures to block the criminal mechanism were carried out by employees of the SBU of the Zaporizhia region under the procedural guidance of the Zaporizhia regional prosecutor's office.
