Recent legal controversy of TIU Canada with Ukrainian Court
Few months ago, TIU Canada, the major foreign investor in solar energy in Ukraine, filed a motion to dismiss the three-judge panel of its appeal in the illegal disconnection of the Nikopol Ekoteknik solar power plant case by the Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant owned by Igor Kolomoyskyi.
The judges have all previously ruled in favour of the Ukrainian oligarch (recently sanctioned by the US government) against Ukraine’s State-owned Privatbank in another court decision. The motion asked for the replacement of the potentially biased judges with objective judges.
A today’s press release from TIU Canada disclosed that the Judges of the Pivdenny Economic Court of Appeal Vitaliy Korsak, Olha Popikova and Oleksiy Yevsikov, appointed to consider the case on the illegal disconnection of the solar power plant of Nikopol Ekoteknik (TIU Canada), voluntarily announced their withdrawal from the case.
This means that other judges will be appointed and a new date for the hearing will be scheduled, the company said in the press release.
