The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has detained another Russian agent in Kharkiv who was coordinating airstrikes against Ukrainian Defense Forces in the frontline city.
Investigations revealed that on June 5, 2025, the agent provided coordinates that enabled a massive strike on the regional center. At that time, Russian forces attacked the city with Geran-2 kamikaze drones.
After the night attack, the agent inspected the strike sites to assess the damage and reported back to his Russian handlers. The suspect, a 48-year-old employee of a local auto service, came to the attention of Russian forces through a Telegram channel where he was seeking “quick earnings.”
Carrying out the Russian tasks, he cycled around the city almost daily, trying to locate sites where Ukrainian defenders might be stationed. Cyber specialists apprehended him “red-handed” at home while he was compiling new coordinates of potential targets.
The SSU charged the agent under Part 2, Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed during martial law). He remains in custody without the possibility of bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
