"With the support of instructors from 12 other countries, the Interflex operation utilized the advanced global skills and experience of the British Army to provide Ukraine with reliable soldier training. Interflex is a great example of how we work hand in hand with allies to strengthen Ukraine's security, which in turn enhances the security of Europe and the United Kingdom," said the UK Minister of Defence, Luke Pollard.
On Tuesday, November 19, UK Minister of Defence Luke Pollard visited the Interflex training exercises in the east of England. He met some of the 50,000 soldiers trained by the UK and its allies – Canada, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, New Zealand, Lithuania, Australia, Romania, the Netherlands, Kosovo, and Estonia.
"Each of the 50,000 soldiers trained here is a message to Russia that we stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine against the Russian aggressor, and we will stand strong together," added the minister.
Minister Luke Pollard also observed Ukrainian military personnel practicing storming and clearing trenches. Trench fighting is a basic skill that every soldier must master. The exercise included a covert approach to an enemy trench, an assault, clearing, securing, and repelling an enemy counterattack. Instructors, acting as the adversary, used training grenades, blank ammunition, and acoustic simulations of artillery fire for maximum realism.
Throughout the exercises, scenarios involving wounded soldiers who required medical aid and evacuation were included. Special attention was given to the coordination of actions between units.
Ukrainian servicemen are learning from instructors from partner countries, acquiring essential knowledge and skills in critical military disciplines according to NATO standards. These skills are necessary for carrying out combat missions.
