Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Croatia, Denys Shmyhal and Andrej Plenković, discussed the possibility of creating a joint working group to track the illegal activities of Russia’s shadow fleet.
The head of the Ukrainian government announced this during a press statement following their meeting in Zagreb, as reported by Ukrinform.
"Another topic of our conversation with Prime Minister Plenković was how we can weaken the aggressor—Russia. Sanctions remain the number one tool. It is important to continue countering Russia’s shadow fleet. It is not only a tool for bypassing sanctions used by the Putin regime but also a means of causing harm to NATO member states. Prime Minister Plenković and I agreed on the possibility of creating a joint Ukrainian-Croatian working group to track the illegal activities of Russia’s shadow fleet," said Shmyhal.
He emphasized that both countries will work to ensure that Russia pays for its aggression. Croatia already supports the work of the International Register of Damage. At the same time, Ukraine seeks to ensure that all frozen Russian assets are fully confiscated and directed toward resilience and recovery, the Prime Minister noted.
On January 29, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal arrived in Zagreb. As part of his visit, he is also scheduled to meet with the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Gordan Jandroković.
