Ukraine’s Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitalii Koval, held a meeting with Egypt’s Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kuchuk. The meeting was attended by Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine and Trade Representative of Ukraine, and Serhii Tkachuk, Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

The parties discussed the simplification of financial procedures and the removal of barriers to trade between the two countries.

Vitalii Koval emphasized that agricultural production and exports are primarily based on the private sector, making it critically important for the state to ensure stable mechanisms for guarantees in international trade, reliable settlements, and access to financial resources.

"Streamlining financial procedures and removing administrative barriers is an important step towards strengthening Ukrainian-Egyptian trade partnerships. We continue to work on opening new opportunities for Ukrainian farmers in the Egyptian market," the Minister of Agrarian Policy stated.

The main topics raised during the meeting included:

  1. Settlements in agricultural trade: Egypt is one of the largest importers of Ukrainian agricultural products, and to further develop cooperation, it is crucial to eliminate restrictions that complicate financial transactions.

  2. Preferential agreement or free trade agreement: The Egyptian side supports the initiative of signing such an agreement, as it would not only increase the volume of agricultural trade but also expand the export of other goods.

  3. Updating the double taxation agreement: This issue needs to be resolved to create more transparent and favorable business conditions.

  4. Administrative cooperation between customs authorities: Restoring effective cooperation between the customs authorities of Ukraine and Egypt will significantly simplify and accelerate trade between the two countries.
