Ukraine and Japan have launched a joint business platform for infrastructure technologies aimed at recovery and reconstruction, called JUPITeR, the press service of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development (MinRegion) reported.
"The JUPITeR platform has been created to coordinate and extensively engage Japanese companies in rebuilding our infrastructure. We hope to develop reliable and effective coordination mechanisms together. This will allow us and our Japanese colleagues to clearly define priorities and effectively respond to Ukraine's current reconstruction needs," stated Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba, as quoted in the release.
The platform will inform its Japanese business members about the situation in Ukraine and priority reconstruction projects. Ukraine hopes to involve Japanese businesses in rebuilding residential infrastructure and exchanging expertise in training specialists in the transport sector and other projects, said Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development, Maryna Denysiuk.
According to Denysiuk, Japan is currently working closely with Ukraine in waste management and humanitarian demining and supplies rails for Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways), municipal equipment, and heat pumps for affected communities. Additionally, the Ministry, in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is implementing a technical cooperation project and the third phase of the Emergency Recovery Programme.
As previously reported, in December 2024, Japan established a coordination council for Ukraine's recovery, involving Ukrainian and Japanese businesses.
