On June 28, in Istanbul, within the framework of the Global Transport Forum, Ukraine and the Kingdom of Morocco signed a bilateral Agreement on International Road Transport.

The signing of this agreement opens up new opportunities for the development of trade, logistics, and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The document was signed by Serhii Derkach, Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, and Mohammed Abdeljalil, Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics.

"This agreement is an important step in expanding Ukraine's international transport connections. It is worth emphasizing that this is our first road transport agreement with an African country. Moreover, it is the first new agreement on road transport with a foreign country in the past ten years. The agreement enables the delivery of goods by road to Morocco and the import of goods from there. There is a clear demand for this from domestic businesses and carriers. The agreement will facilitate better conditions for carriers and promote the development of new routes between our countries," said Serhii Derkach.

During the signing, the Deputy Minister thanked his Moroccan counterparts for their constructive cooperation, continuous dialogue, and, most importantly, the achieved result.

The agreement sets out the legal and organizational framework for carrying out international freight and passenger road transport. It provides for the issuance of permits and regulates transit-related matters.

Specifically, it foresees a permit exchange for freight transport. For this purpose, the parties will convene a joint commission.

Regular passenger transport will become possible once the appropriate routes are established, while non-regular passenger transport can begin after permit exchanges.
