On Thursday, October 2, Ukraine and Russia carried out another prisoner exchange, with 185 defenders returning home.

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this on Telegram.

“We are bringing home 185 of our defenders from Russian captivity. 183 are privates and sergeants, 2 are officers,” the head of state wrote.

He specified that the group included soldiers of the Armed Forces, the National Guard, and the State Border Guard Service. They defended Mariupol and the Azovstal steel plant, as well as the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Most of them had been in captivity since 2022.

In addition to the military personnel, 20 civilians were also released.

The president assured that all those who returned will receive the necessary assistance.

“Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, we have managed to bring home more than 7,000 of our people. We must bring back everyone. We work on this every day,” Zelensky emphasized.
