In 2024, aluminum and aluminum product imports increased by 21.7% to $446.006 million (with $36.943 million in December). Aluminum exports rose by 27.4% to $124.408 million, with $8.426 million in December.

Aluminum is widely used as a construction material. Its main advantages include lightness, malleability, corrosion resistance, high thermal conductivity, and the non-toxicity of its compounds.

These properties have made aluminum extremely popular in the production of kitchenware, aluminum foil in the food industry, and packaging. The first three properties have made aluminum a key material in the aviation and aerospace industries (though it is being gradually replaced by composite materials, especially carbon fiber).

After packaging production (aluminum cans and foil), the largest consumer industry for the metal is energy.
