In the context of the full-scale war, the risk of extraordinary situations related to epidemic danger is extremely high. Due to the capture of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant by Russian forces, the risks of radiation and nuclear hazards have significantly increased. Therefore, Ukraine, together with European partners, is building a capable system to respond to emergencies. This was reported by the First Deputy Minister of Health, Serhiy Dubrov, during a presentation at the conference of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (HERA).

"As part of the medical guarantee packages in Ukraine, contracting has been introduced for 193 healthcare facilities that could potentially provide assistance in emergency situations of any origin. The Provision of Medical Guarantees (PMG) includes the provision of these institutions with a list of urgently needed medicines. The European Commission has developed a provisional table and a list of medicines and medical products for emergency situations. We appeal to our colleagues from the European Commission regarding the possibility of working on this list for implementation in line with the provisions defined in the tables approved by the European Commission in our country," noted Serhiy Dubrov.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the creation of a strategic reserve of medicines for emergency situations of any origin.

In addition, there was a meeting with the European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Stella Kyriakides. She assured of the continuous support of Ukraine by the European Commission. The parties discussed the development and support of the program for the medical evacuation of affected Ukrainians to European clinics. The European Commission also confirmed its readiness to provide support for the creation of a single regulatory body in the field of medicinal products.

Work meetings also took place between Serhiy Dubrov and the Director-General of the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (SANTE), Sandra Gallina, the representative of the WHO in the European Union, Oksana Domenti, and the Acting Director-General of the Directorate-General for Preparedness for Emergency Situations in Healthcare and Response (HERA), Laurent Muselier.
