Demining operators in Ukraine can now rent demining vehicles on a systematic basis, as two manufacturers have introduced rental services for their equipment. One of the companies offering this service is GCS Ukraine, representing the Swiss-German manufacturer GCS. The first rental agreement has already been signed with the international operator Danish Church Aid, which has leased a heavy GCS-200 demining machine.
"The ability for operators to rent rather than purchase demining machines significantly increases the capacity for mine clearance operations. For example, an operator who wins a tender for clearing an agricultural site can lease a machine, complete training, obtain the necessary certification, and then complete the demining contract much faster. We are seeing a growing demand for such rentals, which indicates the development of the humanitarian demining market," said Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
As part of the agreement, GCS Ukraine will provide training for Danish Church Aid personnel, technical support during the rental period, and spare parts. In the future, there will also be an option to purchase the leased vehicle.
"The agricultural sector is one of the pillars of our economy, and every day of delay in clearing mined land results in losses for both people and the country. I firmly believe that demining operators and equipment manufacturers should consider rental as an effective solution. Access to technology, training, and expertise will help make our country safer," said Dmytro Salimonov, CEO of Global Clearance Solutions Ukraine.
Additionally, the RoverTech company has introduced the option to lease the "Zmiiy" demining machine after signing an agreement with a Ukrainian bank.
