This week, Ukraine received EUR 550 million in financial assistance from the European Investment Bank (EIB).Â
These funds are the second part of the second assistance package, developed in cooperation with the European Commission, for a total amount of EUR 1.59 billion. This financial assistance is guaranteed by the EU within the framework of the External Lending Mandate and complements the emergency financial support for Ukraine of EUR 668 million, which was provided to Ukraine by the EIB at the beginning of March 2022.
Currently, the support of international partners is very important for Ukraine. We are grateful to the European Union and the EIB team for the funds provided, which will allow us to maintain the country's economic stability during unprovoked aggression by the russian federation.Â
Sergii Marchenko, Minister of Finance of Ukraine
The second part of the second package of financial assistance from the EIB will be directed to ensuring the priority needs for the restoration and modernization of damaged electricity, heat, water supply, housing, and communal infrastructure facilities. Part of the funds will be allocated to prepare for the heating season, to ensure energy efficiency and energy saving.
In September 2022, Ukraine received the first tranche of the second package of financial assistance from the EIB, in the amount of EUR 500 million.
