Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced that Ukraine will join the pilot of the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI).

The head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation wrote about this on Telegram.

"Ukraine is the only country in the consortium that is not currently a member of the EU but is already actively involved in shaping the future electronic identification in the EU. The Ministry of Digital Transformation team is participating in the EU pilot project, where the 'Action' cross-border interaction will be tested," Fedorov said.

The EU has already voted to create the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI). Member states of the POTENTIAL consortium must submit their national wallets to the EU within two years, and testing of prototypes should be completed by April 2025.

"The Ukrainian digital wallet is called 'Diia'. After the pilot launch in the EU, Ukrainians will be able to use 'Diya' there, while Europeans will use their digital wallets in Ukraine. With the digital wallet, you can conveniently and safely open a bank account online, have permanent access to driver's licenses on your phone, use electronic signatures, and receive electronic medical prescriptions," explained Mykhailo Fedorov.

By the end of the first quarter of 2024, the European Commission is expected to publish unified requirements for EUDI wallets. According to the head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, 'Diya' has implemented most of the EUDI functions "long before the presentation of the European Commission's proposal.
