Ukraine will soon open four new embassies in Latin America — in the Dominican Republic, Panama, Uruguay, and Ecuador — Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced following his participation in the High-Level Dialogue between the Council of Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) and ACS observer states in New York.
According to the MFA press service, the minister spoke about Ukraine’s intention to expand cooperation in Latin America and the Caribbean, particularly by opening new embassies in the Dominican Republic, Panama, Uruguay, and Ecuador. He also proposed holding the first Ukraine–Caribbean States Summit to deepen collaboration and reaffirmed Ukraine’s interest in taking part in future ACS events at all levels.
Sybiha stated that Ukraine is ready to share with Caribbean countries its unique resilience experience gained during the war, especially in defense and technology. He emphasized that Ukraine possesses advanced drone technologies — including maritime and underwater drones — that can be used both for defense and civilian purposes, such as agriculture, patrolling, and other fields.
The foreign minister also expressed Ukraine’s readiness to discuss opportunities for joint research with Caribbean countries in combating climate change. Ukraine recognizes the urgency of addressing the climate crisis and has unique Antarctic research capabilities, including the Vernadsky Research Base station and the 'Noosfera' icebreaker.
