Ukrainian venture capital firm TA Ventures has announced an investment in Tarjama, a Dubai-headquartered language technology company serving the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Tarjama raised $15 million in its Series A round, TA Ventures told AIN.
The round was led by Global Ventures, with participation from Wamda Capital, Phaze Capital, Golden Gate Ventures, and Endeavor Catalyst.
The funds will be used to scale the company’s Arabic.AI ecosystem — an agent-based AI platform designed to help businesses tackle complex challenges while accounting for the cultural, linguistic, and economic specifics of the Arabic-speaking world.
Tarjama plans to double its R&D and engineering teams, expand its infrastructure across key industries, and launch an AI Academy to train hundreds of business and government leaders in AI adoption over the next 18 months.
Founded in 2009, Tarjama operates offices in the UAE and has a presence in over 30 countries. The company has processed more than 2 billion words in over 50 languages and 22 Arabic dialects.
One of its latest innovations is Pronoia V2 — the first world-class large language model (LLM) specifically built for the Arabic language. It reportedly outperforms GPT-4o, DeepSeek-V3, and Cohere on Arabic-language tasks, offering high performance, safety, and contextual accuracy.
