The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is expanding its support for vulnerable categories of Ukrainians. Representatives of the fund shared this information during a meeting with Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
In particular, assistance will continue for families with children living within 30 kilometers of the front line in seven regions. They will receive 21,800 UAH to prepare for winter.
Over 103,000 people have already received payments, of which 44,000 are children. This number is expected to grow. Additionally, nearly 5,000 families have been provided with household fuel.
The program will also continue, providing a one-time payment of 10,800 UAH to families with children who have evacuated from communities in Sumy and Kharkiv regions, where mandatory evacuation has been declared.
Moreover, the number of schools in frontline areas receiving financial grants from UNICEF for the modernization of food service areas and winter preparation will increase from 350 to 800.
Iryna Vereshchuk thanked Munir Mamedzade, Head of UNICEF’s Ukraine Office, for the support provided to hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian families with children and called for further deepening of cooperation.
