The Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine reported this.
Police officers continue to expose persons who illegally try to enrich themselves at the expense of citizens, organizing various criminal schemes. One of these schemes was stopped at the Odessa customs office. Citizens had to pay "mandatory fees" for the unhindered import of generators and batteries.
On January 4, operatives of the strategic investigations department in the Odessa region of the National Police, together with employees of the Department of Internal Affairs and Communications, located in Mykolaiv, and the Odessa regional prosecutor's office, detained the inspector of the international checkpoint of the Odessa customs office. He received $1,000 in illegal benefits from a citizen. Earlier, it was documented that the customs officer received another 200 US dollars.
Further measures are being taken to identify the full circle of persons involved in the corruption scheme.
