Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko met with Vilnius Mayor Valdas Benkunskas. The discussion focused on continuing cooperation between the two cities and Vilnius' involvement in the reconstruction of Kyiv.
According to the mayor's Telegram channel, Klitschko said,
"I met with the mayor of our sister city, Vilnius, Valdas Benkunskas, and the delegation from Lithuania's capital. It is a pleasure to welcome true friends to Kyiv. I thanked the authorities and the community of Vilnius for their support. Our cities will continue their effective cooperation – in the economic sphere, in the rebuilding of Ukraine, and in culture."
Klitschko emphasized that at the beginning of the full-scale war, Vilnius was one of the first to offer help.
"In particular, thanks to the generators, charging stations, and other assistance provided by this city, we are supplying critical infrastructure facilities with energy after airstrikes. It is no coincidence that Vilnius has been awarded the honorary title of 'Rescue City' for its significant aid to Ukraine since the first days of the Russian invasion. Vilnius also sheltered over 30,000 Ukrainians, which is 6-7% of the population of Lithuania's capital," Klitschko noted.
Vitali Klitschko and Valdas Benkunskas also honored the memory of the Heroes of Ukraine and took a walk around central Kyiv.
Earlier, it was reported that Klitschko met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to discuss enhancing aid and security guarantees for Ukraine.
