Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko, presented investment projects in the energy and critical materials sectors during the 5th Energy Transition Forum 2024 in Washington, D.C. The event brought together global energy companies and companies working in the critical materials extraction sector.
"The United States is one of the most active partners in supporting Ukraine's energy system. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, USAID has allocated nearly $1 billion to support the energy sector, including emergency assistance for the repair and maintenance of Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The recently launched five-year SPARC project provides continued support for strengthening Ukraine’s energy security. We are grateful for this help and encourage other institutions and the private sector to join these efforts," Yulia Svyrydenko noted.
During her speech, the Minister of Economy emphasized that despite the war, investments in the energy system and extraction sectors can be profitable for potential investors.
Yulia Svyrydenko also called on American companies to join the creation of joint ventures for increasing oil and gas extraction. Furthermore, there are opportunities for cooperation in the critical raw materials sector, with American companies potentially participating in projects as license partners in Ukraine or directly obtaining licenses from the Ukrainian government.
Additionally, Yulia Svyrydenko urged companies to localize their production in Ukraine, collaborating with Ukrainian energy companies.
Yulia Svyrydenko thanked the United States for its strong support of Ukrainian energy, which has been severely damaged by Russian strikes.
